Cāk The Bakery
I am thrilled to feature one of my favorites, Cāk, on this blog post. Not only do they create stunning cakes and desserts for the weddings they are hired for, but on a more personal note, they also made a cake for me and my wife, Jenny to tell her parents we are expecting a baby. I'm always so impressed that each one of their cakes looks like a work of art. From classic flavors to unique, custom designs, I love working with Cāk. I've had the pleasure of watching them bring the couple's vision to life with every cake they create and I am consistently blown away by their talent and passion for their craft.
Tell me about you!
My name is Rene Hosman and I am a wedding cake designer living in Denver, Colorado. I fell in love with all things cake design when I was in college at University of Denver. Eventually that love turned into my bakery, Cāk! Outside of cake work, I love hiking, spending time with my friends, and enjoying all Colorado has to offer.
Tell me about your work and what sets it apart from your competitors.
I am extremely passionate about providing a custom experience for each of my clients. The ability to work closely with each couple has given me unique insight on how to make each individual vision come to life.
Tell me about what the process of working with you is like. What's the experience you want couples working with you to have?
We really take an educational approach since most of our clients have not planned a wedding before. There are generally few occasions in your life that call for a truly spectacular cake and the options can be overwhelming! We want each client to approach designing their cake with a creative and playful mindset and it our job to help guide them through the process. We love to celebrate our clients' love and make their big day a little bit sweeter!

What do you love about your job?
I love making art that is visually beautiful as it is delicious! Getting to take the theme and aesthetic from a whole event and distilling it in an edible piece of art is truly one of passion.
Where do you derive inspiration? What inspires you and your work?
As I always tell my clients, inspiration is everywhere! Modern art, your wedding dress, invitation suites, favorite colors, and the artwork you have in your home are all awesome places to start. We love pulling inspiration from unexpected places!
What has been one of your favorite projects you've worked on?
It would be absolutely impossible to choose just one because we get to work with so many wonderful humans! Our favorite projects are the ones where we get to collaborate with other visionary vendors to create something truly unique and special for our couples.
