Before your wedding day, what were you most looking forward to on the day?

“We both really looked forward to hearing each others’ vows, which we wrote and didn’t share beforehand. That element of surprise added a layer of anticipation and excitement. We also couldn’t wait to see all of our loved ones together. There’s something incredibly special about having all the important people in your life in one place. And of course, seeing the space set up for the wedding—we had envisioned it for so long.”

What inspired your wedding decor? Did you have a theme in mind?

“We didn’t have a strict theme, but we generally went for a simple, spring- and book-inspired decor. We love the freshness and renewal that spring symbolizes, and being avid readers, books were a natural inclusion. We wanted the decor to feel fresh and simple, but with touches that reflected our love for literature. It was all about creating a space that felt like us.”

Why did you pick the venue/venues that you chose?

“We always hoped we could get married in a bookstore. Tattered Cover is our favorite one in Denver, and while a wedding was out of their normal event wheelhouse, they were up for it. We are so grateful they were! It was the perfect space for us. Continuing with the theme of places we know and love, we had our reception at Safta, a local restaurant we both adore. It was important for us to celebrate in spaces that held personal significance.”

What is your favorite feature about your wedding venue?

“The books! Seeing all the people we love walking around, looking at books, and talking to each other felt like we were in heaven. There was something magical about being surrounded by books and the people we love. It created a cozy, intimate atmosphere that was exactly what we wanted.”

Tell me about the food and drink at your wedding.

“It was important to us to share a family-style meal with everyone who came. We felt so lucky to do that at a restaurant we love. Sharing a meal in this way made everything feel more connected and communal. The food at Safta is phenomenal, and we knew it would be a hit with our guests. We wanted everyone to feel like they were part of one big family, sharing good food and good company.”

Which part of your wedding did you want to WOW your guests?

“We wanted the idea and execution of a bookstore wedding to wow our guests—from the visual setup of the space (us surrounded by books) to the cocktail/book browsing hour. We also wanted our guests to feel like they were at a wedding that really showed who we were as people, and how much love we have for each other and for all of them. We hope that came across to everyone who joined us.”

What advice about the wedding process would you give to couples who are currently engaged?

“Know the things that you really care about, and the things that you can be flexible on. Focus on what matters most to you as a couple, and don’t stress too much about the rest. The day is about celebrating your love and commitment, and that’s what people will remember.”
