Woodlands

Just 30 minutes from downtown Denver and located on 52 acres of land in the mountains, Woodlands is a beautiful venue for all types of weddings. The modern-industrial style barn is a beautiful white barn with black trim throughout and on the exterior of the building is surrounded by gorgeous mountain views. Inside the building, you’ll find white-washed wood walls and black accent fixtures. The barn has large sliding doors on either end and opens up to the ceremony space overlooking the mountain views. On the side of the building is a fully covered and headed patio, great for cocktails in rain or strong sun. On top of it all, the venue property also includes beautifully decorated bridal and groom suites. Both dressing rooms are fully furnished with couches, chairs, mirrors, TV, and WiFi. I absolutely love this venue because it’s so beautiful and the husband-and-wife owners of the property have put a lot of thought in to the design.

Brief History

Woodlands is owned by husband and wife team Janelle and Stephen Statham. They’ve worked hard to transform the property from what it was when they first bought it in 2017. The land was littered with brush piles, trash, and old trailers that remained from the RV campground and archery range that ran on the property for 30 years and closed its doors in in 2005. Though they faced a few challenges, they were finally cleared to start building the current property in August 2018. They officially opened their doors to weddings with their first couple on May 4, 2019.

When they were building the property, they reached out to over 150 wedding professionals in the Denver area, including photographers, wedding planners, florists, and a few catering companies. They wanted to gather as much feedback on what the other venues in the area were lacking in terms of location, style, and the layout/size of the building. What they determined from all the feedback they received was that the area was lacking good, new, modern venues in the area which let them pursue a confident, bold, creative design, which I love!

The Wedding Ceremony

The convenience of having the ceremony and reception in the same space is a huge benefit at Woodlands. The barn (where the reception is held) has large sliding doors that open up to the ceremony area overlooking the mountain views. All of the chairs you’ll need for the ceremony are already included in the rental, and they have 200 ceremony chairs. They also have 4 options to choose from in terms of a ceremony arbor.

Reception Space & Guest Accommodation

Woodlands has a guest maximum of 245 people (200 in the off-season). The reception space is the barn, with whitewash walls and during the daytime, lots of natural light. On the side of the building is a covered patio, which allows for cover from rain or sun. There is a small parking lot on site which accommodates 60 personal vehicles. A shuttle service to and from Woodlands is highly recommended for any event serving alcohol and is required for any event with over 150 guests.

Exclusive use of Woodland’s facilities are from 12 pm to 11 pm. The event time is limited to 6 hours maximum. Events must end by 10 pm due to county regulations, and cleanup is from 10 pm to 11 pm.

Cost Considerations

During their peak season (May to October), the fee for a Saturday wedding is $10,500, the fee for a Friday wedding is $9,000, and Sundays and weekdays is $8,500. (All dates in May are discounted by $500 from the price that’s shown.)

In November, February, and April, the fee for a Saturday wedding is $8,500. Fridays, Sundays, and weekdays cost $7,500. The venue is not available in the months of December, January, or March.

The barn rental includes 20 6-foot round tables, 200 ceremony chairs, 200 cross-back reception chairs, 20 bourbon/wine barrels, 2 private dressing suites with attached bathrooms, a built-in bar, the ceremony site, covered and heated patio, multi-zone in-house sound system for use by your professional DJ, 2 sets of cornhole games, and 4 options for ceremony arbors.

According to their website, at the time of signing the contract, 50% of the facility fee is due. 6 months before the event, 75% of your invoice must be paid. Your invoice must be paid in full at 3 months prior to your event.

Other Considerations

One thing to note as you’re planning for your wedding at Woodlands is that they have a couple particular requirements around vendors, including a requirement to hire a professional and insured wedding event coordinator for the day of your event. I like this because it makes sure that you and your family are able to be fully present and have a wonderful time at your wedding and not have to worry about keeping things on schedule and organized.
