About The Cable Center

The Cable Center is a sophisticated and contemporary venue just 15 minutes from Downtown Denver, located on the campus at University of Denver. With a great hall, wrap-around indoor balcony, and iconic terrazzo world map floor, this venue is one of the most unique and elegant venues in Denver. Whether you want to host an intimate gathering in the gardens, or a large, 400 person event, there’s a space for you to make your own at the Cable Center. I love the clean lines, bright natural light, and wall of windows that makes this contemporary space so bright and airy.

Brief History

The Cable Center is an educational nonprofit organization serving the media and telecommunications industry and premier event venue. It tells the story of the cable industry, highlighting for the global community the significant contributions made to technology, society, and culture. Based in Denver, Colorado, The Cable Center is the home of the Cable Hall of Fame, recognizing individuals for their outstanding contributions to the industry; the Barco Library, the world’s largest collection of cable-related information and resources; event venue hosting over 200 annual events from corporate to social events, as well as the the Community of Innovators with a focus on intrapreneurship, connecting people and ideas to advance innovation.

Noteworthy Features

The Cable Center is actually located on campus at the University of Denver, which is a beautiful campus with tons of spots for photography. There are (at least!) two features at The Cable Center that set it apart from other wedding venues in Denver. First, the 3-story glass foyer lets so much natural light into the main room, creating so much potential for beautiful photos for a large part of the day. Second, I love the huge beautiful terrazzo blue floor. The floor is actually a world map, with lines that cut across the floor showing satellite paths in space.

The Wedding Ceremony

Most couples have their wedding ceremony in the outdoor grassy space on the east side of the building, which is the Amphitheater. There’s a gentle staircase leading up to a platform where the couple and their officiant stand. (There is also a ramp leading up to the space, as well.) On the north side of the Amphitheater is a beautiful garden with lush greenery.

Reception Space & Guest Accommodation

The Daniels Great Hall is typically where wedding receptions are held. The Cable Center can hold larger weddings up to 400 people. Included in your rental fee is the use of 30 5-foot round tables, 300 white padded chairs, 12 cocktail tables, and 2 6-foot banquet tables, all to be used indoors. In the Great Hall, I love how flexible the space can be. Have your cocktail hour upstairs on the catwalk and then do your cake cutting on the landing while your guests sit below you. The beautiful architecture in The Cable Center allows for so many places for really stunning photography if you set up the ceremony space well!

Cost Considerations

According to Wedding Spot, the rental fee ranges from $3,000 to $6,000 for a ceremony and/or reception and includes 8 hours of rental time including setup and clean up time. Additional hours can be arranged for a fee of $200/hour. The rental fee includes two dressing areas, dance floor, coat check room, tables and chairs, outdoor lighting, day-of coordinator, kitchen (for prep only), and arranged parking.
