Lauren & Daniel’s At Home Photo Shoot
An at home photo shoot captures something truly special: the beauty of everyday moments. I’ve had the privilege of working with Lauren and Daniel for several milestone moments in their lives, so it was exciting to approach this session with a more personal and intimate lens. Lauren and Daniel’s at home photo shoot offered a chance to capture their genuine connection, the little quirks that make their relationship unique, and the warmth of the home they’ve built together.
From Sand Dunes to Their Living Room
My history with Lauren and Daniel began a few years ago when Daniel reached out to me to photograph his proposal to Lauren at Great Sand Dunes National Park. From coordinating logistics to ensuring the surprise went off without a hitch, it was an honor to document such a momentous occasion. The week didn’t end there; I also had the chance to photograph a surprise engagement party Daniel planned for Lauren at Denver Botanic Garden. Seeing their friends and family come together to celebrate was a testament to how deeply loved they are.
Since then, I’ve had the joy of photographing many milestones for them. Each session has been a window into their life—their love story, their milestones, and even their beloved dog, Lola. This at home session felt like the perfect way to bring everything full circle.
Why Do an At Home Photo Shoot?
For couples like Lauren and Daniel, an at home photo shoot provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate life’s quieter, everyday moments. Unlike more traditional settings, being at home allows couples to relax and show up as their authentic selves. There’s no need to travel or worry about external factors like weather or crowds. Instead, you get to focus on the things that make your life together uniquely yours—whether that’s enjoying your morning coffee together, snuggling with your dog on the couch, or simply being surrounded by the memories and mementos that fill your home.
Lauren and Daniel’s session perfectly illustrates why these shoots are so special. Their home served as more than just a backdrop; it was a reflection of their story. From the cozy corners to the little details that highlight their personalities, every frame told a piece of their narrative.
Capturing Connection and Comfort
What makes at home photo shoots particularly rewarding is how they allow for an authentic glimpse into a couple’s life together. Lauren and Daniel’s home radiates warmth and personality, and they were immediately at ease in their familiar space. We began with casual moments—them relaxing in their living room and spending time with Lola. Their dog is clearly a cherished part of their family, and including her in the session made it all the more meaningful.
Over the years, I’ve gotten to know Lauren and Daniel not just as clients but as friends. We connected through our shared Purdue roots (Boiler Up!), and our friendship has grown with every project and shared experience. From cheering on Purdue basketball together to photographing their milestones, it’s been incredible to witness their journey firsthand. This trust and connection made their at home session feel natural and easy.
A Space That Tells Their Story
Every detail of Lauren and Daniel’s session was infused with meaning. From framed photos to carefully chosen decor, their home reflects who they are as a couple. Lola made several appearances throughout the session, stealing the spotlight in her own way. Whether lounging on the couch or playing in the yard, her presence added a playful energy to the day. Including pets in at home sessions is always a great idea; they’re such a big part of daily life and deserve to be part of the story.
Why This Session is One of My Favorites
As a photographer, I love capturing the big, exciting milestones, but there’s something uniquely rewarding about documenting life as it is—messy, cozy, and unfiltered. An at home photo shoot celebrates the love that happens in between those big moments. It’s about the way you laugh at an inside joke, the way your dog curls up at your feet, and the way sunlight filters through your favorite window.
Lauren and Daniel’s session was a reminder of how meaningful these everyday memories can be. As much as I’ve loved photographing their proposals and celebrations, there’s something so special about slowing down and documenting the simple joys of being at home together.
